WASHINGTON — Today the League of Women Voters of the United States CEO Virginia Kase Solomón issued the following statement in response to the passage of the US House bipartisan bill on the Presidential Electoral Reform Act:
“We are pleased to see a bipartisan group of House members move forward with legislation that aims to strengthen the Electoral Count Act and reaffirm our principles regarding our elections system.
“We must not allow a repeat of what took place on January 6, 2021. It is now time for Congress to take meaningful action to protect and strengthen our nation and ensure we never see such an attack again.
"Passage of the bill in the House today is an important first step. We will continue to call on our elected leaders to find a bicameral approach to work together in a bipartisan manner to advance legislation that would protect our future elections and strengthen our democracy.”
